Statement

Shortlisted by Tracey Emin for the Margate Art Prize 2023.

The world we live in is full of life, never static, always active. Photography captures moments of stillness, my work is concerned with the movement of energy, the spaces between and the constantly updating history of all that surrounds us.

We don’t see a fixed, unmoving view, ever… we are constantly changing the way that we see - an object, a space, a landscape etc. My work tries to capture that feeling, never wanting to be photorealistic, but preferring to capture an emotion, in time.

• ING Discerning Eye 2023 at the Mall Galleries, London - exhibitor and live artist painting demonstration.

• Shortlisted by Tracey Emin for the Margate Art Prize 2023. Currently exhibiting as one of the eleven finalists at the Ramsay & Williams Gallery, Margate.

• Life drawings are currently available to purchase in person at Ramsay & Williams Gallery, Margate.

• New Wave Open Call 2023 exhibition at Spitalfields Studios in East London.

• Exhibited at The Chelsea Art Society Open Call 2023 Summer Exhibition.

• Exhibited and work selected as the advertising poster image for the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art Open Call 2023.

Andy Barlow  is a contemporary artist working in oils and oil pastels, he has an MA in Interior Architecture and currently lives in North London.
